The department of botany is one of the prestigious departments in the college in which intermediate and undergraduate teachings take place with enthusiasm and excellence. It was established in 1970 and the main focus of teaching revolves around plant pathology, plant physiology, cytogenetics and plant breeding, environmental botany, plant biotechnology, systemic botany and ethnobotany. The department has made a steady progress in all these areas. The department has also organized seminars in association with department of zoology several times in history. The laboratory of this department is also rich in several modern equipments like rota evaporator, soxhelet apparatus etc and provides an updated research environment
